13th September 2008 – Thurrock 8 – 0 Stansted

On a warm late summer’s afternoon those that visited Ship Lane were once again treated to a wonderful display of attacking football.

The hosts were in top form as they went into half time with a three goal lead.

Chris Taylor’s shot was ‘poked’ in by Leon McKenzie after just 7 minutes and it was Taylor, with some lovely individual play, who grabbed the second on 21 minutes.

The visitors worked hard but couldn’t match Thurrock’s quality and the third soon followed. A corner came in from the right and Spencer Harrison somehow ‘scrambled’ the ball over after colliding with their keeper.

There were numerous chances throughout the half with Burns, Gilbey, McKenzie and Taylor all going close. The visitors had a couple of efforts from distance but keeper Elliot Justham was never troubled.

After the interval it was more of the same and apart from a ‘scare’ on about the 65 minute mark Stansted weren’t able to create a single goal scoring opportunity.

The second half goals came from McKenzie, Taylor 2, completing his hat-trick, Ramkin and to round things off on 85 minutes Tony Fraser hit the eighth following a wonderful passing move.

The Reserves have no League fixture this weekend.
